6K Daily Steps Challenge and more

This page is for you if you want to start doing exercise and be more active but are not sure how to get started.  It assumes that you have a fairly low level of fitness and do not belong to a gym (or that you may belong, but don’t go).

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise you can do.  It’s low impact, sociable, most people can do it and, maybe best of all, it’s free.   Most fitness sites still bang on about 10,000 steps a day but I can’t find any research to support that number.  It seems to me it’s been plucked out of the air.  I have found research, however, that says that 6,000 steps daily can significantly improve health and minimise the chances of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.  Have a look at the 6K DAILY STEPS CHALLENGE if you want to start walking 6,000 steps daily.  The WALKING page may help too.

If you want to work out but don’t want to join a gym the HOME  GYM page may be of interest to you.

Want to start running but not sure how?  Have a look at the BEGINNERS’  RUNNING  TIPS page.

Please email me through the Contact page if you have any questions or need any help.
